God is dead!
"Whither is God?" the madman cried; "I will tell you. We have killed him—you and I. All of us are his murderers. But how did we do this?"
Thus cries out Nietzsche's infamous Madman in the Gay Science. In this live online seminar we will discuss this profound claim by Nietzsche. Nietzsche must count as a prophetic figure of late modernity who declared the collapse of Platonism
World-leading Nietzsche scholar Prof. Ken Gemes, editor of The Oxford Handbook of Nietzsche, will lead the seminar.
Reading Nietzsche we try to understand how he arrives at his exclamation that the Christian God is dead and what this means for the future of the world. Topics discussed will include Christianity, Post-Christianity, Nihilism, human being without a creator God, and more.
