The Course

Reach deep into the heart of existence with a journey that explores the concept of ultimate reality through various lenses, from theology and philosophy to cutting-edge cognitive science and evolutionary theory.

This thought-provoking and Halkyon exclusive new course by John Vervaeke pulls you into discussions around what it means to discuss God, the universe, and everything in between. Whether you're spiritually inclined or a staunch realist, get ready for exhilarating lectures and debates that challenge the very way you perceive your place in the cosmos.

This course will explore philosophical attempts to understand the human relationship to ultimate reality, not just in conceptual terms, but in how people are existentially transformed by this relationship. What does this mean for us in an age of declining belief in the traditional theistic God, the global encounter with non-Abrahamic religions, and the development of sophisticated cognitive science of religion?

So we won't stop at theory. This exploration has real-world implications that extend into our daily lives, ethics, and personal beliefs. By engaging with diverse perspectives on what could lie beyond our sensory experiences, you'll develop critical thinking skills that help you wrestle with life's big questions. The insights gained here could influence how you engage with others, make decisions, and consider your impact on a world that’s possibly part of a much grander design. So, gear up for an adventure of the mind that promises to leave you looking at life with a fresh sense of wonder and a toolkit for navigating its mysteries.

What you will learn

When crafting this course, John Vervaeke made sure to interweave insights from philosophy, theology, and science to provide a comprehensive understanding that goes beyond traditional perspectives.

Whether you are just beginning your spiritual journey or have been on it for a long time, you'll appreciate how each lecture is organised to gradually build your knowledge without overwhelming you.

The content is tailored to unravel the intricate concepts surrounding existence and the universe in a way that’s both accessible and deeply thought-provoking. John's aim was not simply to impart "information", but to offer insight into the philosophical wisdom that lies concealed in the various disciplines discussed. This will help you form your own viewpoints on these profound topics. With engaging discussions, you'll find the journey through the subject of spirituality and ultimate reality to be as enlightening as it is enriching.

We are here to support you every step of the way.
